Tugela Rapids is a self-catering rustic lodge that is solar powered, located on the banks of the Tugela River, in the district of Bergville, KwaZulu-Natal. Ideal for guests looking for a bush breakaway, away from city life.

The property contains 2 separate chalets, each of which sleeps 4 guests. These units have a loft-style inside, with 1 bedroom downstairs and the other room upstairs. These rooms are equipped with either a double bed or 2 single beds, and bathroom facilities include an ablution block with 2 toilets and a shower to use. The water is heated by gas and the lodge has a solar lighting system, so there is no need for electricity.

The kitchen is adjacent to the lapa area and contains a gas stove and a gas fridge with a deep freezer. The lapa has an open deck area where guests can relax and enjoy sundowners. There is also indoor as well as outdoor braai facilities to make use of.

Is a retreat for adventurous people who are 4X4 enthusiasts, birders, hikers, folk who enjoy river activities [tubing, canoeing, fishing, river swimming] picnicking and mountain biking.

We experience hot summers and cold winters, with winter days being sunny and warm.

Tugela Rapids is a self catering resort facility for one party, please bring your own food, drinks, towels … Mountain bikes, canoes, binoculars, bird books, torch and charcoal.

“Tugela Rapids” is built on a rocky hillside, therefore, the terrain is uneven, thus, not suitable for toddlers, and under 4 yr olds.

The farm is situated off the R74 freeway, between Bergville and Winterton which are farming villages that offer basic shopping needs.

Activities available on-site at Tugela Rapids are 4×4 trails, bird watching, hiking and fishing at the river.

Guests must bring their own food, drinks, towels, mountain bikes, torches, binoculars, bird books, charcoal, fishing tackle and canoes.
